TriZPUG September 2003 Meeting: Adaptable Persistence Engine (APE)

Document Actions
The Triangle Zope/Python User Group (TriZPUG) will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, September 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Raleigh, NC.

We will be meeting in the DELTA conference room(s) at Venture III, who has kindly permitted us to use their meeting room, on NCSU's Centennial Campus. Directions to Venture III are below. This month, Zope Corp. is back in town, and they have volunteered to give this month's talk. Shane Hathaway will provide an overview of APE. Hope to see you there!

Title: Adaptable Persistence Engine (APE)

Shane Hathaway from Zope Corporation will provide an overview to Adaptable Persistence (aka APE), an object mapping framework. This talk should be of special interest not only to our Zopistas but also to those who have investigated using the standalone ZODB or who have a general interest in object persistence. While Ape is designed to work with ZODB, it can also work independently of both Zope and ZODB. From http://hathaway.freezope.org/Software/Ape, "Ape adapts Zope objects to storage on the filesystem, in relational databases, or practically anywhere else. It combines the advantages of transparent object persistence with arbitrary databases and formats."

Brian Lloyd (Zope Corporation's VP of Engineering) and Rob Page (CEO of Zope Corp) will also be on hand to answer questions.

Directions to the TriZPUG meeting:

Try the following links if you need directions to NCSU's Centennial Campus or directions to the Venture III building, but skip step #3 since the meeting is after hours.
