PyCamp Raises $1800 For Newly Formed HZPUG

Document Actions
Proceeds from Houston PyCamp raised $1800 for the newly formed Houston Zope and Python Users Group.

About 30 PyCampers met with representatives from Enfold Systems and Continental Airlines in the middle of Houston PyCamp at the University of Houston Texas Learning and Computation Center (TLC2) to form a Houston Zope and Python Users Group (HZPUG). Refreshments at the meeting were provided by TLC2. The new group is seeded with $1800 in proceeds from Houston PyCamp for catering sprints, conference scholarships, and other activities.

Houston PyCampers celebrate the formation of HZPUG

The group intends to have a loose organizational structure (ala "shotgun rules"), to reach out to the pre-existing Python meetup.com group, and to meet regularly for grassroots member-driven presentations about Python. HZPUG intends to create a collaborative website among other avenues of group communication and community building. Sprints, social gatherings, and more boot camps are planned by the members of HZPUG.
